I was intrigued by these new publications that are popping up lately. Specifically, I’m referring to The Obsessor by Panzer, the former Editor in Chief of TechCrunch and Spyglass by M.G. Siegler.

What those 2 blogs have in common? Well, they both are using Ghost as a publishing platform which now seems “the thing” since all the mess with Substack.

There’s nothing bad with it, nothing bad on picking Ghost at all, but all these similar “new” websites reminded me that what they are trying to accomplish was already possible here on Medium or on WordPress, right?

  • I mean…hide your publication behind a paywall ✅
  • Attach a newsletter to that publication ✅
  • Post multiple times a day ✅

Why there’s the constant need to change platform? And I include myself in this gang. I am using SquareSpace myself for my blog, but I love the backend interface of Medium so much that I think time to time to switch it over here, even if it has so many down points for me at the moment.

Not happening anytime soon though. Most and foremost for that big banner that appears once you land into a post and blocks your reading and force you to subscribe no-matter-what.

That said, if you are still undecided on which platform to pick, if you are still stuck but a lot of things to share and say, here a big list of blogging platforms that Manu has collected and you can easily go through.

Why that matters? Because it’s content that runs the web. It’s personal content that makes the real difference. Despite what Arc Search is trying to accomplish slashing the beauty of visiting a website.
